College freshman Abby tries to distance herself from her dark past while resisting her attraction to bad boy Travis.
Beautiful Disaster is a fairly by-the-numbers YA romance adaptation featuring the classic good-girl-meets-bad-boy trope. The plot follows well-worn beats from the source novel with little cinematic reinvention, and the acting is serviceable but unremarkable. Cinematography is competent but generic for the indie romance genre. Novelty is low as the underground fighting/forbidden romance combination has been done many times before, and the ending resolves predictably. Solidly mediocre across the board, consistent with its middling reputation.
