Quartile rating: 5/10 · 1 rating
A suburban teen girl and her little brother must stop a terrifying internet meme brought to life by the hysteria of their parents.
Grimcutty has a mildly intriguing premise—a meme monster manifested by parental hysteria over internet addiction—that gives it a small edge in novelty over standard supernatural horror fare. However, the execution is largely underwhelming across the board. The plot is thin and predictable, failing to fully exploit its social commentary angle. Acting is serviceable at best, with performances that feel flat and underdeveloped. Cinematography is workmanlike and generic, offering nothing visually memorable. The ending resolves too neatly and without meaningful impact, squandering whatever thematic tension had been built. Overall a below-average horror entry that had a more interesting idea than it knew what to do with.
