Jason ships out aboard a teen-filled "love boat" bound for New York, which he soon transforms into the ultimate voyage of the damned.
Friday the 13th Part VIII is widely regarded as one of the weakest entries in the franchise. The premise of Jason taking Manhattan is a novelty on paper, but the film spends most of its runtime on a boat before reaching New York with only a small budget allowing very limited location shooting. The plot is threadbare even by slasher standards, with paper-thin characters serving only as kill fodder. Acting is perfunctory genre fare. The cinematography is flat and unremarkable. The ending involving Jason being de-aged by toxic sewage is bewildering and nonsensical, earning it a poor score. The film promised more than it delivered on nearly every front.
