Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (1993)

Quartile rating: 4.5/10 · 1 rating

Jason Voorhees is tracked down and blown to bits by a special FBI task force, reborn with the bone-chilling ability to assume the identity of anyone he touches.

The Quartile Take

Jason Goes to Hell is widely regarded as one of the weakest entries in the Friday the 13th franchise. The plot abandons core slasher conventions in favor of a body-possession gimmick that alienates the fanbase and fails to cohere narratively. Acting is serviceable but unremarkable for the genre. Cinematography is functional but uninspired direct-to-video quality. The possession concept offers a modest twist on the formula but is poorly executed, limiting its novelty score. The ending, featuring the Freddy Krueger glove cameo, is more of a tease than a satisfying conclusion and felt cheap to most viewers.
