The Quartile Take

Wolf (1994) blends werewolf mythology with corporate power struggles and middle-age anxiety in a refreshingly adult-oriented horror drama. Jack Nicholson and Michelle Pfeiffer elevate the material considerably with strong, committed performances, giving the film more gravitas than the genre typically offers. Mike Nichols brings a polished, atmospheric visual style though it rarely transcends conventional Hollywood craft. The premise is genuinely interesting as a metaphor for masculine reinvigoration but the script doesn't fully exploit its satirical potential. The ending feels rushed and somewhat incoherent, failing to deliver a satisfying payoff to the character drama that precedes it.
