Dr. Victor Frankenstein, a brilliant but egotistical scientist, brings a creature to life in a monstrous experiment that ultimately leads to the undoing of both the creator and his tragic creation.
This 2025 adaptation of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein leans into gothic horror aesthetics with strong cinematography that evokes the classic source material effectively. The plot follows the well-trodden narrative of creator and creature undoing each other, offering little structural surprise for audiences familiar with the story. Acting is competent but uneven across the cast. Novelty scores low as the Frankenstein myth has been adapted countless times and this version doesn't radically reimagine the material. The ending is appropriately tragic and resonant with the source text, landing with reasonable emotional weight without being particularly revelatory.
