At Pacific Palisades High, a poor Latino falls hard for a troubled girl from the affluent neighborhood.
Crazy/Beautiful is a competent but fairly formulaic early-2000s teen romance that hits familiar beats of cross-cultural, cross-class forbidden love without bringing much new to the table. Kirsten Dunst and Jay Hernandez deliver earnest performances that elevate the material somewhat, and the Southern California cinematography captures the contrast between worlds adequately. However, the plot follows a well-worn template, the ending feels rushed and too neatly resolved, and the film lacks a distinctive voice or conception that would set it apart from similar genre entries of the era.
