Cousins Thomas and David, owners of a mobile restaurant, team up with their friend Moby, a bumbling private detective, to save the beautiful Sylvia, a pickpocket.
Wheels on Meals is a breezy Jackie Chan vehicle whose plot is pure b-movie scaffolding — a thin excuse to string together set pieces — but it earns its keep elsewhere. The ensemble chemistry between Chan, Yuen Biao, and Sammo Hung is genuinely charming, elevating the lightweight material. The Barcelona setting gives the film a distinctive look unusual for Hong Kong action comedies of the era. The real standout is the climactic castle fight, particularly Chan vs. Benny 'The Jet' Urquidez, which is widely regarded as one of the greatest screen fights ever committed to film — a genuinely exceptional ending sequence that justifies a top score in that category.
