My First Time (2012) is a French coming-of-age romance that follows a fairly familiar trajectory of opposites-attract young love. The plot hits recognizable beats of the genre without significant subversion, and the acting is uneven, with the leads conveying some authentic emotion but lacking consistent depth. Cinematography is competent and occasionally warm, fitting the intimate tone. The film offers little that distinguishes it from countless other teen romances, making novelty low. The ending provides modest emotional closure without surprise.
