A lonely Frankenstein travels to 1930s Chicago to ask groundbreaking scientist Dr. Euphronious to create a companion for him. The two revive a murdered young woman and The Bride is born. But what ensues is beyond what either of them imagined.
The Bride! reimagines the Frankenstein mythos through a distinctly feminist, 1930s Chicago lens — a genuinely fresh and singular conception that earns high Novelty marks. The musical-horror-gothic romance hybrid with themes of femicide, female autonomy, and revolution is an uncommonly bold creative swing. Plot execution is competent but uneven, struggling to fully deliver on its ambitious premise. Acting and cinematography appear serviceable, lending period atmosphere without exceptional distinction. The ending, based on available signals, feels underdeveloped relative to the film's lofty thematic setup, leaving the revolutionary potential somewhat unrealized.
