Benny and Claire, a down-on-their-luck couple, find a discarded Chitauri weapon referred to as 'Item 47'.
Item 47 is a charming but slight Marvel One-Shot short film that expands the MCU in a small, street-level way. The premise of ordinary people finding an alien weapon is mildly clever, but the plot is thin and predictable given its brief runtime. The acting is serviceable, with Jesse Bradford and Lizzy Caplan bringing some energy to their roles. Cinematography is functional and TV-movie level at best. As a short film format within the MCU it has modest novelty, but the execution is formulaic. The ending, while tying into S.H.I.E.L.D. lore, feels abrupt and unearned.
