The making of a horror movie takes on a terrifying reality for students at the most prestigious film school in the country. At Alpine University, someone is determined to win the best film award at any cost - even if it means eliminating the competition. No one is safe and everyone is a suspect.
Urban Legends: Final Cut is a largely forgettable slasher sequel that attempts to freshen its premise by setting it in a film school environment, giving it a meta quality about horror filmmaking. However, the plot is derivative and predictable, recycling the urban legend kills concept from the original without meaningful innovation. The acting is mediocre across the board with little standout work. The cinematography benefits slightly from its behind-the-scenes film school setting, offering a few competent visual moments, but nothing exceptional. The film-within-a-film concept had potential novelty but is squandered with a by-the-numbers execution. The ending is weak and unsatisfying, failing to deliver the tension or surprise a slasher finale demands. Overall it sits firmly in below-average territory consistent with its reputation.
