When five hardcore Internet gamers are invited to a special party thrown by the website Hellworld, they endure a night of unspeakable terror.

The Quartile Take

Hellraiser: Hellworld is a late-entry direct-to-video sequel that awkwardly grafts a meta internet/video game angle onto the franchise, resulting in a muddled and uninspired story. The plot is formulaic slasher fare with a twist ending that feels cheap rather than earned. Acting is serviceable but unremarkable from a cast that includes Lance Henriksen doing workmanlike villain duty. Cinematography is competent but unremarkable low-budget DTV work. The Hellworld online game concept is a mildly novel angle for the series but is poorly executed and feels more gimmicky than genuinely distinctive. The ending's dream-logic reveal undercuts the already thin narrative rather than satisfying it.
