The Woman in Cabin 10 (2025)

Quartile rating: 6/10 · 1 rating

On a lavish yacht for an assignment, a journalist sees a passenger go overboard. But when no one believes her, she risks her life to uncover the truth.

The Quartile Take

A competent but familiar thriller that treads well-worn 'unreliable witness' territory. The claustrophobic yacht setting provides some atmosphere and the journalist protagonist gives the story decent momentum, but the narrative leans heavily on genre conventions — disbelieved woman, sinister wealthy elites, fake identity twists — without meaningfully subverting them. Acting is serviceable without being memorable. Cinematography makes reasonable use of the confined maritime setting but rarely elevates beyond functional. The ending resolves things in a predictable, slightly melodramatic fashion that fails to deliver a satisfying payoff, undercutting the tension built earlier. Novelty is low given how derivative the premise feels of similar Hitchcockian thrillers.
