Heart Eyes (2025)

Quartile rating: 6/10 · 1 rating

When the "Heart Eyes Killer" strikes Seattle, a pair of co-workers pulling overtime on Valentine's Day are mistaken for a couple by the elusive couple-hunting killer. Now, they must spend the most romantic night of the year running for their lives.

The Quartile Take

Heart Eyes is a competent but largely formulaic Valentine's Day slasher that leans heavily on genre conventions — the 'couple mistaken for lovers hunted by killer' premise is well-worn territory. The Seattle setting and holiday horror framing add mild flavor, but the plot mechanics are predictable and the mystery elements thin. Acting is serviceable with decent chemistry between leads carrying the rom-com beats, though performances rarely transcend the material. Cinematography is functional and workmanlike for the genre without standout sequences. Novelty is low — the holiday horror-comedy blend has been done repeatedly and this entry brings little distinctive voice or craft to distinguish it. The ending follows expected genre beats without meaningful subversion.
