The Quartile Take

The Uninvited is a competent American remake of the Korean film A Tale of Two Sisters, retaining the core psychological twist ending while westernizing the aesthetic. The plot is serviceable genre fare — predictable in its buildup but carried by a genuinely effective and well-executed twist that recontextualizes the entire film, earning a strong Ending score. Acting is adequate, with Emily Browning delivering a committed lead performance but supporting work being unremarkable. Cinematography is polished and professional but fairly generic for mid-2000s horror remakes. Novelty suffers because it is explicitly a remake drawing heavily from its Korean source, and the American execution adds little that is distinctively its own beyond the twist landing cleanly for audiences unfamiliar with the original.
