Quartile rating: 6.5/10 · 1 rating
An anthology film presenting remakes of three episodes from the "Twilight Zone" TV series—"Kick the Can", "It's a Good Life" and "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet"—and one original story, "Time Out."
An uneven anthology that benefits from the Twilight Zone brand but suffers from being largely remake material. The four segments vary wildly in quality — Landis's 'Time Out' is morally provocative but overshadowed by real-life tragedy, Spielberg's 'Kick the Can' is overly saccharine, Miller's 'Nightmare at 20,000 Feet' is the standout with kinetic tension, and Dante's 'It's a Good Life' is gleefully unhinged. Acting is serviceable across the board with highlights from John Lithgow's manic turn. Cinematography is competent but not particularly distinguished. Novelty suffers significantly as three of four segments are direct TV remakes with familiar premises, limiting its distinctiveness despite some bold stylistic choices from individual directors.
