As the city is locked down under quarantine, Alice finds out that the people that died from the previous incident at the Umbrella Corporation have turned into zombies. She then joins a small band of elite soldiers, who are enlisted to rescue the missing daughter of the creator of the mutating T-virus. Once lack of luck and resources happen, they begin to wage an exhilarating battle to survive and escape before the Umbrella Corporation erases its experiment from the face of the earth.
Resident Evil: Apocalypse is a by-the-numbers video game adaptation sequel that recycles zombie apocalypse and evil corporation tropes with little invention. The plot is thin and formulaic — a rescue mission strung between action set pieces — with minimal character development. Acting is serviceable but unremarkable, with Milla Jovovich doing her best with thin material. Cinematography is competent but generic late-90s/early-00s action-horror aesthetic with choppy editing. Novelty is low given it's a derivative sequel adding familiar video game characters (Jill Valentine, Nemesis) without genuine creative distinction. The ending resolves predictably while setting up further sequels. Solidly below-average across the board, consistent with its modest reputation as popcorn fare that pleases franchise fans but offers little else.
