Quartile rating: 5/10 · 1 rating

After eight years apart, three childhood friends - Lucy, Kit, and Mimi - rediscover their friendship on a cross-country trip. With barely a plan, practically no money but plenty of dreams, the girls catch a lift with Mimi's handsome friend Ben in his convertible. Along the way they not only gather experiences that will change their lives, but they also discover how important it is to hold onto their hearts' desires.

The Quartile Take

Crossroads is a formulaic teen road-trip drama built squarely around Britney Spears's pop stardom. The plot hits every expected beat — estranged friends, personal revelations, a dark backstory secret, and a tidy resolution — without meaningful surprise or depth. Acting is serviceable but unremarkable across the board, with Spears delivering a limited performance that is neither a disaster nor a strength. Cinematography is competent but entirely generic, offering nothing visually distinctive. Novelty is low: the film is a by-the-numbers vehicle (literally and figuratively) that recycles road-trip and coming-of-age conventions with little distinctive voice or craft. The ending is predictable and neatly wrapped, consistent with the film's overall formula. A watchable but thoroughly average product of its era.
