John Anderton is a top 'Precrime' cop in the late-21st century, when technology can predict crimes before they're committed. But Anderton becomes the quarry when another investigator targets him for a murder charge.
Minority Report is a visually stunning and conceptually rich sci-fi thriller. Spielberg and Janusz Kaminski craft a bleached, high-contrast future aesthetic that remains distinctive and influential. The premise — adapted from Philip K. Dick — is genuinely provocative, exploring predestination, free will, and surveillance with unusual depth for a mainstream blockbuster. Tom Cruise is committed if not exceptional, and the supporting cast is solid but uneven. The plot is tightly constructed through most of its runtime, with inventive set pieces. The ending, however, dips into a more conventional resolution that somewhat deflates the philosophical tension built up throughout, feeling tidier than the story deserves.
