After three years of therapy Charley Brewster, now a college student, is convinced that Jerry Dandridge was a serial killer posing as a vampire. But when Regine, a mysterious actress and her entourage move into Peter Vincent's apartment block, the nightmare starts again - and this time it's personal!
Fright Night Part 2 is a competent but largely unnecessary sequel that retreads the original's beats without adding much new. The plot is a near-carbon copy of the first film with gender-swapped antagonist and minimal fresh ideas. Acting is serviceable — Roddy McDowall brings his usual charm as Peter Vincent and William Ragsdale holds his own, keeping the film watchable. Cinematography is decent for a late-80s horror sequel, with some atmospheric lighting and decent practical effects work. Novelty is low as the film recycles the original's structure almost point-for-point — therapy subplot aside, there's little that distinguishes it. The ending resolves predictably without the emotional payoff of the original, feeling rushed and formulaic.
