Two thieves, who travel in elegant circles, try to outsmart each other and, in the process, end up falling in love.
Entrapment is a glossy late-90s heist thriller that leans heavily on the chemistry between Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones, but its plot is fairly derivative and riddled with conveniences — the twists feel telegraphed rather than earned. The acting is serviceable: Connery coasts on charm and Zeta-Jones is charismatic, but the script doesn't give them much psychological depth to work with. Cinematography is competent and polished, with attractive locations in Kuala Lumpur and Scotland adding visual appeal, though nothing particularly inventive is done with the camera. Novelty is low — the older-rogue-meets-younger-thief romance wrapped in a heist framework is well-worn territory, and the film doesn't bring a distinctive voice or fresh angle to the genre. The ending tries to land a clever double-cross but feels contrived and unconvincing, undermining the tension built up to that point.
