Prakash Rathod, a retired police commissioner recounts the most memorable case of his career wherein he was informed about a bomb scare in Mumbai by an ordinary commoner.
A Wednesday! is a lean, taut thriller that punches well above its weight. The plot is ingeniously constructed — a cat-and-mouse game between a nameless common man and seasoned cops — with a twist that reframes everything. Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher deliver powerhouse performances that elevate the material significantly. Cinematography is competent and functional but unremarkable for the genre. The film is highly distinctive in Indian cinema for its stripped-down, cerebral approach to the thriller format and its pointed socio-political commentary on terrorism and civilian frustration. The ending, while thematically satisfying, relies on a somewhat convenient reveal that slightly undercuts the tension built throughout.
