The Fantastic Four return to the big screen as a new and all powerful enemy threatens the Earth. The seemingly unstoppable 'Silver Surfer', but all is not what it seems and there are old and new enemies that pose a greater threat than the intrepid superheroes realize.
Rise of the Silver Surfer is a formulaic superhero sequel that delivers little beyond its visually interesting title character. The Silver Surfer's design and CGI are the film's strongest element, lending some visual flair, but the plot is thin and rushed — Galactus reduced to a cloud is a notorious disappointment. The acting ranges from passable to wooden, with the ensemble chemistry feeling stale compared to even the first film. The storyline recycles Earth-in-peril stakes without meaningful depth or surprise, and the climax resolves too conveniently. Novelty is low given its by-the-numbers sequel structure, though the Silver Surfer concept had potential that goes largely unrealized.
