Jennifer, a gorgeous, seductive cheerleader takes evil to a whole new level after she's possessed by a sinister demon. Now it's up to her best friend to stop Jennifer's reign of terror before it's too late.
Jennifer's Body is a genuinely distinctive entry in the horror-comedy genre, blending Diablo Cody's sharp, idiosyncratic dialogue with a feminist subtext rarely seen in teen horror. The premise — demonic possession via botched virgin sacrifice turning a cheerleader into a literal man-eater — is executed with a singular voice and self-aware wit. Acting is serviceable, with Megan Fox delivering more than she's given credit for and Amanda Seyfried providing emotional grounding, though neither performance is exceptional. Cinematography is competent genre work without much flair. The plot holds together reasonably well as a dark metaphor for toxic female friendship and exploitation, though pacing issues and tonal inconsistencies drag it down. The ending is the film's weakest element — it resolves somewhat flatly and the post-credits stinger feels tacked on rather than satisfying. Its cult reappraisal is warranted given its unusually strong feminist horror framework for its era.
