A privileged girl and a charismatic boy's instant desire sparks a love affair made only more reckless by parents trying to keep them apart.
Endless Love (2014) is a glossy but formulaic remake of the 1981 film, itself based on Scott Spencer's novel. The forbidden teenage romance premise is executed in a thoroughly by-the-numbers fashion with predictable beats, stock characters (disapproving wealthy father, star-crossed lovers), and little dramatic tension. The acting from Alex Pettyfer and Gabriella Wilde is serviceable but lacks depth and chemistry to elevate the material. Cinematography is the film's strongest suit, with polished, sun-drenched visuals that give it a romantic sheen. Novelty is extremely low as it recycles familiar tropes without adding any distinctive voice or fresh perspective. The ending resolves predictably, offering little emotional payoff beyond generic romantic closure.
