When partygoers at a deserted funeral home decide to have a séance on Halloween night, they awaken something evil with a thirst for blood.
Night of the Demons is a solid late-80s horror romp that delivers on atmosphere and creature effects but follows a fairly predictable slasher-possession formula. The plot is thin and derivative of haunted-house party films, and the acting is campy at best. Where it earns credit is in its genuinely inventive practical effects work and memorable demon makeup, plus a distinct Halloween atmosphere that gives it cult appeal. The ending is serviceable but relies on a telegraphed twist. Its novelty comes from its gleefully trashy energy and memorable set-pieces rather than any structural innovation.
