Quartile rating: 5.5/10 · 1 rating
Two college students driving coast to coast are lured off the main highway and onto a deserted Texas road were they are stalked by the menacing Leatherface and his family.
A largely by-the-numbers slasher sequel that recycles the original's road-trip-meets-chainsaw-family premise without adding meaningful new dimensions. The plot offers little beyond familiar genre beats and the acting is generally unremarkable. Cinematography has some competent gritty atmosphere typical of late-80s horror productions. As a sequel it is distinctly formulaic and derivative of the iconic original, earning a low Novelty score. The ending is unsatisfying and abrupt, reflecting troubled production history including heavy studio cuts.
