Zoey is a talented dancer whose organized life is rudely disrupted when she moves in with her new step-dad and three step-brothers, until she discovers a dog-training app that can get boys to obey her every command. But she soon learns that it isn't the cure-all she had hoped for.
Zapped is a lightweight Disney Channel-style TV movie that hits all the expected beats of a blended-family teen comedy without distinguishing itself in any category. The plot is formulaic—a wish-fulfillment premise with a predictable moral lesson about acceptance and authenticity. The acting is serviceable but unremarkable from its young cast. Cinematography is flat and functional, typical of TV movie production values with no visual ambition. Novelty is low; the dog-training-app gimmick is a thin twist on well-worn wish-fulfillment comedies aimed at tweens, offering little that feels fresh or distinctive. The ending resolves neatly and predictably, delivering the expected message without any real surprise or emotional weight. A solidly mediocre entry in the genre that satisfies its target audience without exceeding expectations in any meaningful way.
