Quartile rating: 5/10 · 1 rating
An archaeological team attempt to unlock the secrets of a lost pyramid only to find themselves hunted by an insidious creature.
The Pyramid is a found-footage horror that blends Egyptian mythology with creature feature tropes, but executes nearly all of them poorly. The plot is formulaic and predictable, the characters are thin and unlikable, and the found-footage conceit feels forced and inconsistent. The Anubis creature concept has some novelty on paper but is squandered by poor CGI and a muddled mythology. The ending is particularly weak, offering no satisfying resolution or thematic payoff. Cinematography suffers from the typical found-footage limitations without any of the genre's better practitioners' creativity. A below-average horror entry that fails to capitalize on its intriguing setting.
