Quartile rating: 6/10 · 1 rating

Lucinda Price is sent to a reform academy under the assumption that she has killed a boy. There, she meets two mysterious boys, Cam and Daniel, to whom she feels drawn to both. But as the love triangle unfurls, it is Daniel that Luce cannot keep herself away from, and things begin to take a darker turn when she finds out his true identity.

The Quartile Take

Fallen is a fairly by-the-numbers young adult supernatural romance adaptation, hitting familiar beats of the forbidden love triangle, mysterious bad boy with a dark secret, and destined love across lifetimes. The plot is derivative of the Twilight-era YA formula and fails to distinguish itself with meaningful dramatic stakes or originality. The acting is serviceable but unremarkable, with leads delivering adequate but uninspired performances that lack chemistry. Cinematography is one of the film's stronger suits, with atmospheric gothic visuals and moody lighting that give it some aesthetic appeal beyond its source material. The ending is abrupt and unsatisfying, clearly designed to set up sequels that never materialized, leaving the narrative feeling incomplete.
