Dead Rising: Watchtower is a competent but unremarkable video game adaptation that hits familiar zombie-outbreak beats without adding much new. The plot follows a predictable quarantine-and-escape formula with little narrative surprise, and the acting is serviceable at best. Cinematography is functional for a mid-budget production but lacks visual distinction. As a video game adaptation it incorporates some franchise-specific elements (improvised weapons, the tone) but remains largely derivative of the zombie genre at large. The ending resolves things neatly but without impact. Overall a mediocre genre entry that appeals primarily to fans of the source material.
