Law enforcement finds itself chasing the ghost of a man dead for over a decade, embroiled in a diabolical new game that's only just begun.
Jigsaw is a belated franchise entry that struggles to justify its own existence. The plot relies heavily on familiar Saw mechanics — trap sequences, red herrings, twist ending — executed competently but without the grim ingenuity of the original trilogy. The twist, while present, is telegraphed and lacks the gut-punch of earlier installments. Acting is serviceable but unmemorable across the board. Cinematography is reasonably polished, benefiting from better production values than mid-franchise entries, though it rarely uses visual language creatively. Novelty is low — this is a by-the-numbers franchise revival recycling established formulas with minimal reinvention. The ending attempts the signature Saw reveal but falls flat compared to its predecessors.
