Quartile rating: 4.5/10 · 1 rating
While staying at a remote cabin for a week-long vacation, a group of five college friends succumb to an infectious, flesh-eating disease.
A near shot-for-shot remake of Eli Roth's 2002 cult horror, Cabin Fever (2016) offers virtually nothing new — same script, same beats, same kills, making Novelty a clear 1. The plot is serviceable cabin-in-the-woods fare but squanders any opportunity to reimagine or update the source material. Acting is bland and forgettable across the board, with none of the campy charm of the original cast. Cinematography is competent but uninspired, failing to bring any fresh visual identity. The ending mirrors the original without adding emotional resonance. Overall a redundant exercise that struggles to justify its own existence.
