A search and rescue team are transported through deep space to a distant mining colony to save the sole survivor of a biological outbreak. During their mission, they find a lethal weapon which is set to arrive on Earth within the hour.
Infini has an intriguing high-concept premise blending sci-fi horror with philosophical ideas about consciousness and empathy, but the execution is uneven. The plot buckles under convoluted storytelling and pacing issues, making it hard to follow. The acting is serviceable but unremarkable, with characters remaining largely underdeveloped. Cinematography is a relative highlight — the grimy, claustrophobic mining colony aesthetic is effectively realized on a modest budget, showing genuine craft. Novelty gets a bump for its ambitious blend of ideas (Solaris-esque themes, biological horror, slipstream travel mechanics) that feel distinct even if imperfectly executed. The ending, however, is muddled and unsatisfying, undermining much of the tension built up prior.
