A love potion works its devious charms on fairies, elves and the swamp-dwelling Bog King as they all try to possess the potion for themselves.
Strange Magic is a George Lucas-produced animated musical that blends fairy tale tropes with a jukebox soundtrack, but struggles to stand out. The plot is a fairly formulaic love-potion romp with thin characterization and predictable beats. The voice acting is serviceable with decent musical performances, and the animation has some visual flair in its creature designs. However, the film feels derivative of other animated fairy musicals, lacking a distinctive voice or fresh narrative approach. The ending resolves too neatly and without much earned emotional weight.
