Christmas is supposed to be a time of joy, peace and goodwill. But for some folks in the small town of Bailey Downs, it turns into something much less festive.
A Christmas Horror Story is a solid anthology horror entry that weaves together multiple yuletide horror tales including a memorable Krampus segment and a zombie elf outbreak at the North Pole. The intercut anthology structure works reasonably well and the Krampus storyline stands out, but acting quality is uneven across the segments and the plotting is fairly routine for the genre. The cinematography is competent holiday horror fare without being visually distinctive. The film earns modest novelty points for its clever final twist connecting the threads, but most individual segments rely on familiar horror beats. The ending twist is the film's strongest asset, elevating what might otherwise be a forgettable anthology.
