6 Years (2015)

Quartile rating: 5.5/10 · 1 rating

A young couple bound by a seemingly ideal love, begins to unravel as unexpected opportunities spin them down a volatile and violent path and threaten the future they had always imagined.

The Quartile Take

6 Years is a modest indie drama that captures the raw, uncomfortable texture of a deteriorating young relationship with some authenticity. The performances, particularly from Taissa Farmiga and Ben Rosenfield, carry emotional weight and feel genuinely naturalistic. However, the plot treads very familiar ground — the volatile young couple unraveling under pressure is well-worn territory with little narrative invention. Cinematography is functional but unremarkable, and the film's novelty is low given how standard the relationship-drama framework is. The ending offers a bittersweet, ambiguous resolution that feels earned if not wholly satisfying.
