Teen Beach 2 is a pleasant but formulaic Disney Channel TV movie sequel. The plot is a fairly standard fish-out-of-water reversal of the first film's premise, offering little narrative depth. The young cast performs energetically and handles the musical numbers capably, elevating the material somewhat. Cinematography is functional TV-movie level work with nothing distinctive. The novelty of reversing the premise (bringing the fictional characters into the real world) gives it a modest creative bump over a completely by-the-numbers sequel, but it remains a lightweight, predictable offering. The ending wraps up too neatly and predictably to leave much impression.
