The Quartile Take

Exposed (2016) is a troubled production — originally Ana Lily Amirpour's Spanish-language film 'Daughter of God,' it was re-edited and recut by the studio to insert Ana de Armas's footage alongside a separate detective storyline with Keanu Reeves. The result is a tonally disjointed, narratively awkward film where the two storylines never fully cohere. The plot suffers most from this clash of visions, feeling fragmented and unresolved. Acting is a relative highlight, particularly Ana de Armas who brings genuine emotional presence despite the editorial chaos. Cinematography retains some of the original film's atmospheric quality. The ending is unsatisfying, feeling abrupt and incomplete — a symptom of the film's troubled post-production. Novelty is low given how derivative the detective/corruption thriller elements are, even if the original footage had a more distinctive quality.
