Zombieland: Double Tap (2019)

Quartile rating: 6.5/10 · 1 rating

Columbus, Tallahassee, Wichita, and Little Rock move to the American heartland as they face off against evolved zombies, fellow survivors, and the growing pains of the snarky makeshift family.

The Quartile Take

Zombieland: Double Tap is a competent but formulaic sequel that largely retreads the charm of the original without meaningfully expanding on it. The plot is thin and predictable, cycling through road trip hijinks with little narrative urgency. The cast remains charismatic and clearly enjoys the material, keeping the acting serviceable and fun. Cinematography is polished but unremarkable genre fare. Novelty suffers significantly as a by-the-numbers sequel — the evolved zombie types and new character archetypes feel like rehashes of the first film's innovations rather than genuine new ideas. The ending resolves without much payoff or surprise, wrapping things up tidily but without emotional or comedic punch.
