The Quartile Take

The live-action adaptation of Attack on Titan's second installment suffers from many of the same issues as the first film: a compressed, awkward script that strips away much of the manga's emotional depth, and performances that feel stilted and unconvincing. The cinematography achieves some decent scale with its practical and CG Titan work, offering occasional visceral moments, but the plotting is rushed and the character dynamics feel hollow compared to the source material. The novelty is limited — it continues a fairly derivative live-action anime adaptation formula, and while the giant Titan concept is inherently striking, the execution here is not distinctive enough to elevate it. The ending, resolving the Titan mystery in a condensed and unsatisfying way, disappoints fans and newcomers alike.
