Quartile rating: 6/10 · 1 rating
On Quartile, I Know What You Did Last Summer scores 6/10 across five categories — strongest on Plot (Above Average), weakest on Acting (Below Average).
After an accident on a winding road, four teens make the fatal mistake of dumping their victim's body into the sea. Exactly one year later, the deadly secret resurfaces as they're stalked by a hook-handed figure.
A fairly by-the-numbers late-90s teen slasher that rode the post-Scream wave without much originality. The plot is mechanical and riddled with conveniences, the four leads deliver serviceable but largely forgettable performances, and the ending is messy and unsatisfying. Cinematography is competent with some decent coastal atmosphere and tension-building visuals, but nothing standout. The hook-wielding fisherman is a memorable image, though the film leans heavily on genre formula rather than offering anything genuinely distinctive.
