Friend Request is a fairly generic mid-2010s social media horror that blends vengeful ghost tropes with Facebook aesthetics. The plot follows a predictable curse-spreading formula reminiscent of The Ring and Pulse without adding much new, and the characters are thinly written. Acting is serviceable but unremarkable from its young cast. Cinematography has some effective dark imagery and occasionally stylish moments involving the cursed videos, keeping it slightly above average.
