Quartile rating: 6.5/10 · 1 rating

A retired mobster goes on a revenge spree after being left for dead with 22 bullets in his body by his former childhood friend.

The Quartile Take

22 Bullets is a solid French crime thriller anchored by Jean Reno's commanding presence. The revenge narrative is competently executed and grounded in a true story, but follows a fairly well-worn genre template of the retired mobster drawn back in. The cinematography is professional and atmospheric without being visually distinctive. Reno elevates the material with a restrained, credible performance, and the film maintains tension throughout. The ending resolves satisfyingly but without major surprise. Overall a well-crafted but derivative genre piece.
