A corporate risk-management consultant must determine whether or not to terminate an artificial being's life that was made in a laboratory environment.
Morgan is a competent but largely derivative sci-fi thriller that treads familiar ground established by films like Ex Machina and Splice. The plot follows a predictable trajectory with few genuine surprises, and the twist ending, while technically executed, feels telegraphed and somewhat undercooked. The ensemble cast performs adequately with Kate Mara and Anya Taylor-Joy showing flashes of strength, but the script gives them limited room to develop. The woodland cinematography is serviceable and atmospheric in places. Overall the film lacks a distinctive voice or fresh angle on its AI subject matter, feeling like a lesser entry in an increasingly crowded genre.
