Quartile rating: 6/10 · 1 rating
One of the members of a gang of thieves commits a serious mistake that force them to work for a ruthless gang of drug dealers, endangering the future of the team, their lives and those of their families.
The Crew is a competent French crime thriller that follows a fairly conventional gang-under-pressure narrative. The plot hits familiar beats of loyalty, betrayal, and forced criminal escalation without offering much surprise. Acting is solid but unremarkable, with the ensemble holding together without standout performances. Cinematography is serviceable Paris-set crime fare with professional but uninspired visual choices. Novelty is low as the premise of thieves coerced by drug lords is well-worn territory with little distinctive voice or style to set it apart. The ending resolves tensions in a predictable, somewhat unsatisfying manner typical of mid-tier European crime thrillers.
