Alex and his sister run a business designed to break up relationships. They are hired by a rich man to break up the wedding of his daughter. The only problem is that they only have one week to do so.
Heartbreaker is a charming but formulaic French romantic comedy. The premise of a professional relationship-breaker is reasonably novel and gives the film a fun hook, and Romain Duris and Vanessa Paradis have genuine chemistry that elevates the material. However, the plot follows a predictable will-they-won't-they trajectory with few surprises, the cinematography is functional rather than distinctive, and the ending resolves exactly as expected with no meaningful subversion. It's an enjoyable crowd-pleaser but rarely transcends its genre conventions.
