StreetDance 3D (2010)

Quartile rating: 6.5/10 · 1 rating

In order to win the Street Dance Championships, a dance crew is forced to work with ballet dancers from the Royal Dance School in exchange for rehearsal space.

The Quartile Take

StreetDance 3D is a fairly formulaic dance film that follows the well-trodden opposites-attract template — street dancers vs. ballet dancers — without bringing much originality to the premise. The plot hits predictable beats with little surprise, and the acting is serviceable but unremarkable from a largely inexperienced cast. Where it earns credit is in its choreography and use of 3D cinematography, which captures the energy of the dance sequences with reasonable flair. The ending delivers the expected crowd-pleasing climax competently. Overall a decent entry in the dance genre but largely derivative of films like Step Up.
