When she discovers a wedding planer's business card, Alexia instantly says, "YES" to Mathias unaware that it belongs to his mistress. The groom is now trapped between his bride, and his lover who in charge of his unwanted marriage.
Wedding Unplanned is a light French romantic comedy built on a classic mistaken-identity/love-triangle premise. The plot has some comedic potential with its central irony—the mistress unwittingly planning the wedding of her lover—but the execution is fairly predictable and the screenplay doesn't fully exploit the comedic chaos it sets up. Acting is serviceable but unremarkable, with performances that feel TV-movie level rather than cinematic. Cinematography is functional and conventional, typical of mid-budget European romantic comedies with no distinctive visual flair. The concept of the mistress-as-wedding-planner has mild novelty but remains firmly in well-trodden rom-com territory. The ending ties things up in a broadly satisfying if formulaic way. Overall a pleasant but unremarkable entry in the genre.
